1. Our Program :

The children are taught in English by qualified Montessori teachers. Levels 2 and 3 children attend Arabic sessions. All classrooms have one teacher and one or two assistants. The program includes the following:

Practical Life :

The material used is designed to teach the children life skills such as how to tie a bow, lace a shoe, etc… By acquiring these new skills, the child improves his/her eye-hand coordination, concentration and independency, learns how to take care of himself and his environment, learns about grace and courtesy and finally develops his motor skills as well as his hand and wrist.

Sensorial Exercises :

These exercises develop the child’s senses and ability to perceive the environment around him. He/She learns dimensions, heights, widths, shapes, colors and grading.

Language :

In both English and Arabic, we develop the child’s language orally through group discussions, stories, and songs. The language is then further developed and reinforced by working with the Montessori materials of all subjects. When the child is ready, we teach him/her the alphabet phonetically, and then word building and finally reading.

Math :

In Math, children always start with concrete activities and gradually move to abstract. The child first learns to count, then moves to recognizing numbers and quantities. The child also becomes familiar with the sorting, matching and pairing and sequencing activities.

Cultural Studies :

  • Science and Biology : The child learns about the different animals, plants, fruits and vegetables. He also learns simple concepts through different experiments such as the use of magnets, experimenting with sinking and floating objects etc…

  • Geography and History : The child learns about the world around him. He/she is exposed to different topics such as the globe, earth and the continents. In History, the child learns about seasons, the months of the year, the days of the week and the concept of time etc…

Music :

The child learns different songs and movements in addition to playing simple instruments. At the end of each year the child performs in a musical concert.

Art :

This area further develops the senses through color and texture. The child uses a variety of materials to draw, paint, and create crafts which also develop their fine motor skills.

Excursions :

Throughout the year, we take the children on field trips to reinforce concepts and topics taught in the class.

2. Our Method :

Children develop by absorbing everything around them. They learn through experience and doing tasks for themselves. The Montessori classroom is carefully prepared to maximize tasks in the environment around them. The Montessori child is taught in a way that does not pressure him into learning, yet encourages the maximum response. Thus, learning should occur naturally, at the proper pace of the child. The child chooses from a wide range of self-educating activities to assist this process.

3. Our Classrooms :

If you look inside our Montessori classrooms, you would find that each child is working quietly and independently with whatever learning task he or she choose.

Our classrooms are prepared environments designed to support the child's need for purposeful activity. They are divided into separate areas, all of which interrelate. These areas are: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, and Culture, which includes science, biology and geography, as well as music and art.

The children are free to choose their own activity. The classroom is like a “mini-community,” with lots of social graces, interaction with each other, and community spirit. The needs of the children are respected by all, work is returned to the shelf ready “for the next person,” and chairs are tucked in so that others will not trip. We gather together at least once a day for stories, songs or quiet group games, so the children can learn to become part of a larger group.

4. Our Material :

Our classes contain specially designed, manipulative "materials for development" that invite children to engage in learning activities of their own individual choice. Under the guidance of a trained teacher, children learn by making discoveries with the materials, cultivating concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.

The Montessori Materials have an individual or multiple teaching aims. The materials allow children to be free, to explore an unlimited amount of knowledge. The materials are designed in such a way that they can be worked with on an individual basis; children can also work at their own pace. They have the freedom to make their own choices of what to work with and when, creating a sense of independence and self-confidence within their personality.

Some of the materials are: pink tower, sand paper letters and numbers, geometric figures, knobbed cylinders, number rods, spindle box, insets for design etc…
